Sat-26-Jan-19   Half Day Walk   Today we celebrate Australia Day with a leisurely walk within Jells Park and option to visit Nortons Park. Wear good shoes, a hat, sunscreen. Wed-13-Feb-19   Half Day Walk Dandenongs Commencing at the Micawber Tavern we wind our way up the western edge of Sherbrooke Forest to Ferny Creek.  We then walk along bushy tracks to Sherbrooke Picnic Ground and descend past Sherbrooke Falls to our starting  point. Lunch at the tavern.  10 km Easy/Medium

Participants will purchase breakfast at the Carriage Café Seville (cooked meal and coffee less than $20). Then we will walk along the railtrail enjoying dappled shade and NO hills. Two tours have been booked- Parliament House and St Michael's Church. Many other interesting National Trust and Heritage buildings will be entered as we walk down Collins Street.   5 km Easy
Fri-15-Mar-19 Sun-17-Mar-19 Pack Carry Mt Bogong Challenge yourself to climb Victoria's highest mountain.  Camp at Mountain Creek campsite on Friday night for early start on Saturday.  Up Eskdale Spur to Mt Bogong.  Then to Clevel Cole hut where we will camp.  Sunday we head back using "The Staircase". 26 km Hard
Sat-16-Mar-19   Day Walk Kilcunda - Desalination Plant A  walk along the rail trail  east from Kicunda for about 2km, then down to the mouth of the Powlett river. A  walk along Williamsons beach follows.  We then walk around the Desal plant reserve viewing the plant itself before returning to our starting point. Great views but exposed in places. 18 km Medium
Sun-17-Mar-19   Day Walk Westona to Williamstown Beach via seaside path Catch the 9.07 Werribee bound train to Westona Station, to arrive at 9.40am. We walk thru Truganina Wetland, then the seaside trail to Williamstown Beach. Return home by train.     14.5 km Easy/ Medium

Sat-30-Mar-19 Sun-31-Mar-19 Pack Carry The Bluff This is an easy two day walk to a major peak in Victoria's high country. We will ascend via Eight Mile Spur, camp beside Bluff hut, and return via an unnamed spur to Richie's hut, and finally along the Howqua River low track with its numerous river crossings.   25 km Medium

Starting from Ivanhoe public golf course, meander along the Yarra River trails to Banksia Park. Return via river walking trails and parklands west of Bullen Road. Includes Bolin Bolin Billabong and Bullen Park. Last chance to see some of this area before North East Link construction begins.   14 km Easy
Tue-04-Jun-19   Half Day Walk Warrandyte This walk takes us along the Yarra from Stiggants Reserve, a circuit of Blacks Flat where we will have morning tea, then returning via the same route.  Lunch about 1 km from our cars. 7 km Short'n'Easy
Wed-05-Jun-19   Day Walk BIRDSLAND & BELGRAVE LAKE A varied walk around the lakes, then a few ups and downs in Lysterfield Park, followed by an exploration of the Monbulk Creek conservation area.   16 km Easy/ Medium
Sat-08-Jun-19   Day Walk Mt Worth Picturesque tracks can be easy in places, but narrow,  muddy and slippery in others - and a few long and steep bits thrown in for interest.  We visit 2 waterfalls, one is a 'cave like' grotto.   17 km Medium

Sat-15-Jun-19   Day Walk Mt Everard A good warmup for the 33km Dandenongs walk the following week! This walk through Kinglake National Park begins at its southern boundary on Marshalls Road and heads north over Mt Everard and Mt Beggary, then via the Cookson Hill and Shelley Harris tracks to Jehosaphat Gully where we have lunch.   We return via the Mt Jerusalem track, the Steels Creek picnic ground and the steep Bundy track. 800m of ascent.. 26 km Hard
Sun-16-Jun-19   Day Walk Blackwood Starting at the Garden of St Erth, we do a loop around the upper reaches of the Lerdederg River. After lunch we descend past old mine workings and walk a loop around Whipstick Gully. Coffee in the Garden café. 15 km Medium

Sat-22-Jun-19   Day Walk Dandenong Winter Special This is a circuit walk starting at Dandenong Ranges carpark up over Mt Dandenong and back to the carpark before dark. It’s the Winter Solstice (near enough) and a suitable ritual to celebrate with. The club has done this walk each year on the shortest Saturday of the year for quite a while now.   33 km Hard

Sun-30-Jun-19   Day Walk GELLIBRAND HILL AND WOODLANDS HISTORIC PARK An easy walk through an interesting park full of magnificent trees and old buildings, all to the soothing sound of jet engines.   Morning tea watching the planes take off at Tullamarine, lunch at Woodlands Historic Park, now the home of retired racehorses.    This is an easy walk but website indicates tracks have been degraded by floods in 2018, boots and poles recommended.  Devonshire tea available afterwards for $9.50. 13.5 km Easy

We will take the rough road to the top, followed by an exploratory off-track push from the summit to meet the Tanglefoot track for a quick return to the car. Sat-07-Dec-19 Sun-08-Dec-19 Pack Carry Baw Baw Plateau This is an overnight walk from Mt Erica carpark to the Baw Baw Plateau, visiting the Mushroom Rocks, and Mts Erica, St Phillack and St Gwinear. We loop back from the St Gwinear carpark on a little known track. Beautiful camping on the plateau.    31 km Medium
Sat-07-Dec-19   Day Walk Phillip Island 4 short walks in Cape Woolamai, Churchill Island and back beaches of Philip Island, magnificent coastal scenery,  secluded beach spots, exposed high sea cliffs and a ship wreck. We round off with early dinner at Cowes Esplanade to be back around 8 pm. Bring extra water and have gear for strong winds and variable weather. 16 km Medium

Mon-09-Dec-19 Fri-13-Dec-19 Base Camp Licola and the Alpine National Park The walks here are mainly on the harder side of M, with an optional VH walk.  Car trips are long and often on dirt roads, but the scenery is spectacular to make up for it.  In 2018 we had a fantastic time.  Drivers willing to take passengers will be given preference.  Car trips are up to 2 hours each way per day, often on dirt roads into isolated areas.  2 WD is ok, but 4 WD / AWD is better.  New walks are being investigated.  Accommodation is school camp style. Wed-11-Dec-19   Half Day Walk Dandenongs Commencing at the Micawber Tavern  we wind our way along the western edge of Sherbrooke Forest  to Ferny Creek. We then walk along bushy tracks to Sherbrooke Picnic Ground  and descend past Sherbrooke Falls to our starting point. Lunch at the tavern.    10 km Easy/ Medium
